Well...this is a lil something I've decided to put together for all my guy-pals...I've watched them flounder and wonder just what it takes to get that girl to dig you...so read up menfolk!!!! The commandments of that all-important first date....your first and perhaps last chance to show that girl just what a catch you are... :)
- Thou shalt always offer/insist on paying the tab. No matter what Femina/Cosmo etc says..Gals like a guy to at least offers to pay. That way if the she volunteers to split the tab, you win. If she insists on paying, you win. If she lets you pay, you lose a few bucks...but you win her attention.
- Thou shalt make maximum eye-contact. Not to be confused with a staring-down contest. You want her to think you find her interesting,...you don't want her thinking she's got a gigantic zit on her nose. (Eye contact is most effective if its her eyes u're looking at...not anywhere a few inches below..)
- Thou shalt participate in the conversation. Listen to her...but add your own views as well. Girls like it when a guy talks about stuff. You might just be surprised to find that the gal likes some of the same things that you do.
- Thou shalt compliment her on some unobvious part of her attire. Don't go for the standard "Nice dress" or "You look great" line..add a lil personal touch...like her shoes,hair,purse etc...Girls put a lot of thought into their outfits..so make sure they know you noticed...
- Thou shalt not turn up in an all-new-just-brought-this-for-our-date outfit. A new shirt / tee / jeans is fine...but a top-to-bottom new look might scare her off. Girls like familiarity in their guys.
- Thou shall hold her hand for atleast five seconds....not her shoulders, not her elbow, not her waist or any other part of her anatomy...her hand. Hold it lightly but firmly. Use the pretence of guiding her through a door or helping her sit in her chair or any goddamn excuse you can think of. Five seconds. Max seven. Not more. Guaranteed to leave her wanting your touch again... :)
- Thou shalt not use cheesy pick-up lines on her. Girls have heard and experienced some of the worst pick-up lines in history...so spare her...try a lil honesty instead..if you really like her but are scared to death to tell her ....tell her. Chances are it might work in your favour more than a "Could you help me get up coz i just fell for you..." line.
- Thou shall not act like a sex-maniac when its time to end the date. Say goodnite politely with a lil kiss on the cheek or a lil peck on the lips. NO TONGUE. Unless she initiates ;)
- Thou shall call her the next day and tell her you had a good time. .(Even if you really didn't..). Ask her out again if you want, else send it there. But call. Remember girls talk...and this girl might just be friends with the next love of your life. And she will remember you.
- And finally..last of all....don't plan every nano-second of your date..act on instinct, impulse, gut-feeling etc....and don't forget to have fun!!!!!
